All Of a sudden I seem to be piling on the pounds – should I be worried?
Hi David – “piling on the pounds” or “calorie creep” are terms used frequently. Its difficult to advise you directly as I do not know your history or even your BMI ( maybe i will look at doing a submission form for this ! For example I have a colleague who for years was probably underweight and for them to have a steady increase in weight was a good thing.
The key for me is that when we talk in terms of obesity we recognise it is is a disorder of energy balance (“energy in “ equals “energy out”). Weight is steady when energy is balanced. “positive energy balance” is when the amount of energy consumed as food and drink exceeds the energy used. I am posting one of my articles for you to read.
Dear Dr. Ralph Rogers,
I want to thank you for this article. I have gotten education in mursing science and public health. This branch fo preventive action is so important. It should really be promotive healthcare. As this branch has been minor latest years also in Finland refering the brand new research of Dr. Rimpeläinen, state official of Finland I so thrilled that Herbalife is giving means to do preventive and promotive healthcare. Before I met Herbalife I had been seraching the best ways to do this wellnesswork among healthcare. Now I can do the work with the help of Herbalife-products.
Considering obesity in children.. How do I get my children to eat more healthily?
Encouraging children to eat more vegetables and fruit is a question I am often asked. There are a several strategies recommended.
1. Involvement in the preparation of the food as an activity.
2. Mixing and mashing – You can get your children eating extra portions without even realising it. For example grated carrot or pureed veg into soups, sauces, mashed potato or stews. If they don’t like boiled or steamed vegetables, try stir-fried vegetables.
Do not forget a lot of children like raw vegetables vary the normal raw carrot with sliced cucumber or peppers.
